Ingredients

  • 1 whole spatchcock chicken
  • 2 tbsp harissa paste
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • Handful new potatoes
  • 2 peppers

Instructions

Step 1
In a small bowl mix harissa paste with 1 tbsp of the olive oil

Step 2
Spatchcock the chicken – turn the chicken over breast side down and using kitchen or poultry scissors, cut along both sides of the backbone to remove it. Turn the chicken over and press down to flatten

Step 3
Brush the harissa marinade over the chicken

Step 4
Add zest and juice of the lemon

Step 5
Plug probe into the Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer. Insert pot into the unit and close the lid. Select ROAST, set temperature to 180°C, then select PRESET. Use the arrows to the right of the display to select CHICKEN. The unit will default to CHICKEN WELL to cook chicken to a food-safe temperature. Select START/STOP to begin preheating

Step 6
While unit is preheating, insert probe into centre of chicken breast (see probe placement instructions on page 7 if needed)

Step 7
When unit beeps to signify it has preheated, place chicken, skin-side down, in the pot. Close lid over probe cord

Step 8
When unit beeps to signal the chicken needs to be flipped, turn chicken over, coat with more marinade. Close lid to continue cooking

Step 9
When unit beeps to signal the chicken is done cooking, use oven mitts to remove probe from the chicken. Then transfer chicken to a cutting board and allow to rest covered for 10 minutes before serving

Step 10
Optional extra to serve with side dishes: With 20 minutes left of cooking time add parboiled baby potatoes and sliced peppers
