Poached Summer Fruits
TIP: The poaching liquid can be reduced by boiling for 10 minutes if a thicker syrup is required. Use a potato peeler to remove zest from lemon.
NOTE: Cooking time may vary depending on the ripeness of fruit
Ingredients
- 7oz caster sugar
- 17fl. oz water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 5 cloves
- 2 lemon peel strips
- 2 tbsp rum (optional)
- 2 pears, quartered, stalk and core removed
- 2 yellow peaches, stoned, halved
- 2 white nectarines, stoned, halved
- 7oz cherries, halved, stones removed
Instructions
Step 1
In the Ninja PossiblePan, add sugar, water, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, lemon peel, and rum. Set the pan over a medium heat and stir ingredients together until sugar fully dissolves. Turn hob to medium-high heat and boil liquid for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Add the pears and cover the pan with the lid. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, making sure to turn pears after 5 minutes. Add the peaches and nectarines. Cook covered for another 5 minutes. Add the cherries and cook covered for 2 minutes.
Step 3
When cooking is complete, use a spoon to remove and discard cinnamon, anise, cloves, and lemon peel. Serve hot or cold.
