Spiced Chicken Tacos
A whole spiced chicken, cooked with to perfection, served with classic Mexican accompaniments for a delicious family meal
Ingredients
- 1 large chicken
- 3 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tbsp + 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 limes
To serve
- Tortilla wraps
- Guacamole
- Vegetables
- Sour Cream
- Limes
- Jalapeños
Instructions
Step 1
Spatchcock the chicken or your butcher can do it for you
Step 2
In a small bowl mix together the paprika, oregano, salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, cumin and olive oil. Set aside
Step 3
Using a sharp knife, make slits in the chicken thighs and breast. Make sure you go through the skin and into the flesh
Step 4
Rub the spice mix all over the chicken. Set the chicken aside while you prepare the Ninja
Step 5
Plug in and turn on the Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer
Step 6
Remove the probe from the storage compartment and plug it in into the Ninja Grill. Insert the metal probe into the thickest part of the chicken breast
Step 7
Select the ROAST cooking function
Step 8
Press PRESET and and select CHICKEN using the arrows on the right. Because its chicken the Ninja will automatically select ‘well done’ as the cooking option
Step 9
Put the 1 extra tbsp olive oil into the Ninja and press START / STOP to start the Ninja preheating. Close the lid. The Ninja will alert you when its time to add the food
Step 10
When its preheated, add the chicken, skin side down and close the lid. You’ve now got at least 30 minutes to prepare the rest of the ingredients
Step 11
When the chicken temperature is 10-15 degrees from the target temperature, turn the chicken so its skin side up. Slice 2 of the limes and add them around the chicken. Close the lid
Step 12
When it’s ready it’ll beep. Let it rest for ten minutes. Squeeze some of the cooked lime over the chicken and serve
